Nannies Fried Apple Pies






2 C. self rising flour
1 T. white sugar
1/4 C. lard or shortening
milk
For the filling:
6 oz. dried apples
water
1 C. white sugar
oil for preparation
In a bowl mix the flour and sugar, cut within the lard employing a pastry liquidizer or two forks till breakable. Add in barely enough milk to create a dough. Knead simply a trifle, cowl with wrapping and place within the refrigerator for one hour. Meanwhile, place the dried apples in a very pot and canopy with water. Stir within the sugar and convey to a boil. cut back heat to medium and cook till the apples ar nice and tender and may be attenuated with a fork. Add additional water, if needed, to stay them from sticking out and burning on the lowest. Once tender, take away from heat.

Repeat with remaining dough and filling. Heat 1/2" oil to three hundred degrees in a very giant frypan (I used Nannies electrical skillet). Place a number of within the oil and fry till nice and golden on one aspect, flip and do identical with the opposite. Drain on a paper sack. Repeat with remaining pies. Makes approx. 8-10 pies.
